What is Canton Fair?
The China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, was founded in the spring of 1957 and is held in Guangzhou every spring and autumn. It has the longest history, the highest level, the largest scale, the most complete variety of commodities, the largest number of buyers attending the fair, and is distributed across the country. It is the comprehensive international trade event with the widest coverage, best transaction results and best reputation in different regions. It is known as the barometer and weather vane of China's foreign trade.
From April 15 to May 5, 2024, the 135th China Import and Export Fair will be held in Guangzhou.
Activity background
After the founding of New China, in order to break the blockade, develop foreign trade, and exchange for foreign exchange urgently needed for national construction, New China was steadfast in this. The first Canton Fair
The Guangdong Provincial Foreign Trade System successfully held three export materials exhibitions and exchanges. On this basis, the Party Central Committee and the State Council approved the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Guangdong Province to jointly organize the China Export Commodities Exhibition in the name of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
The China Export Commodities Exhibition was held at the Sino-Soviet Friendship Building in Guangzhou. At the two-month exhibition, a total of 2,736 merchants from 37 countries and regions attended the exhibition, with export transactions of US$53.8 million. This exhibition became a "preview" for future China Export Commodities Fair.
The first China Export Commodity Fair opened. Premier Zhou Enlai proposed to call it the Canton Fair for short. The first Canton Fair has an exhibition area of 9,600 square meters, with 5 exhibition halls for industrial products, textiles, food, handicrafts, and local products. 13 professional foreign trade companies organized trading groups to participate in the exhibition, displaying more than 10,000 kinds of products, including self-developed products. Jiefang brand trucks, ordinary lathes, etc., as well as various daily light industrial products, agricultural and sideline products, and traditional handicrafts. More than 1,200 buyers from 19 countries and regions attended the meeting. In the first year of the Canton Fair, the transaction volume was US$86.86 million, accounting for 20% of the total cash generated nationwide that year.

Information and documents
1. The photocopy of the ID card must be able to clearly identify the portrait and handwriting.
2. Between the copy of the ID card and the letter of introduction, the trading group (or drawing review team) must stamp a clear seal, otherwise it will not be accepted.
3. Provide special color photos for certificate application on-site or by scanning and entering the certificate application information. Photos must be used. Photos printed on ordinary printing paper are not allowed. The facial features of the color photo for IDs must be clear, and the head should account for 2/3 of the photo.
4. The special color photo for the exhibition preparation permit and dismantling permit shall be two inches (40mm×50mm) with a blue background.
5. Photo anti-counterfeiting technology is adopted, so the photos that have been issued for the exhibition preparation and dismantling certificates cannot be reused.
Preparation
Collect physical samples. Hurry to the factory to collect typical physical samples. Remember to bring a digital camera. Don't ask for too many samples, but ask for refinement. You must take photos of samples that you cannot bring with you. It is necessary to classify and number the samples and calculate the supply price.
Create product files and import product pictures taken by digital cameras into the database in batches. Importing pictures in batches can automatically create product files according to numbers, and automatically complete picture cropping and scaling. Then, look at the picture to add other detailed descriptions of the product and enter the source price. This way a product database can be established within a week or two.
Make sample barcodes: Make barcode labels for all samples in batches and print them on self-adhesive paper. Cut out the sample barcode label for each number and attach it to the relevant sample. If you do this step well, you can use the physical object to directly input the computer code during on-site quotation, which greatly improves work efficiency. Otherwise, you have to manually search and enter the product number, which is slow!
Animation display samples: On the trade fair booth, the large computer screen is placed in the most conspicuous position, and all exquisite product pictures are automatically displayed with rich animation effects.
Quickly scan the quotation. Use your barcode scanner (not expensive at all) to scan the samples that the merchant likes into the computer one by one. Just enter how much money you want to make and the exact dollar price is calculated with the click of a button.
Sign the deal immediately. If you are lucky, the customer will place the order immediately. Don't be anxious when you are happy. Convert that quote into an order and fill in the negotiated terms of the deal. Once verified, you can print the formal export contract or sales confirmation and have the customer sign it.
Formal quotation documents: Calculate the price in three to five minutes, and then you can print a quotation in a formal format. There are many formats. Your company's logo, detailed contact information, price conditions, unit price and quantity, etc. are all on one piece of paper, clear and clear. Equipped with a color inkjet printer, the quotation with clear pictures can be presented to the guests.
Go home and prepare for shipment. Import customer information, quotations, and orders into the company's business database. Arrange your staff to prepare purchases, make invoices, arrange shipping, insurance and customs clearance, etc.
