The difference between a kayak and a canoe is the sitting position of the paddler and the number of blades on the paddleboard. A kayak is a low-level canoe-style boat in which the paddler sits facing forward with his legs in front and uses the double sculls to pull the other side forward or backward and then spin. Most kayaks have closed decks, although sit-on and inflatable kayaks are also becoming more popular.
